”EvaMarie Lindahl tilldelas stipendiet för en ovanligt omsorgsfull teckningskonst som skapar en rik och myllrande bildvärld där samtid och historia möts. I EvaMarie Lindahls arbeten – så omsorgsfullt utförda att detta i sig väcker uppmärksamhet – framställs tablåer med en stark närvaro av det förflutna. Tillsammans formar teckningarna serier där historien omgestaltas efter konstnärens egensinne och viljan att överbrygga avståndet mellan då och nu. Ofta är utgångspunkten befintliga bilder som genom ”återtecknandet” får nya betydelser och ett nytt liv. Men hennes samplande omfattar även maktens språk, och i bilderna av skadeinsekter genljuder folkmordsretorikens metaforer, vilket skänker teckningarna en nattsvart sida.”
